Principal of a Secondary School Outside of Nairobi, Kenya in Charge of University Admissions
A secondary school located outside of Nairobi that is one of our clients is seeking a vibrant Head of University Admission to be based there. In order to help students transition effectively from school, the Head of University Admissions’ duty will be to connect them with the appropriate universities, institutions, and tertiary level programs and services that are available globally.
The HoUA will meet with students to evaluate their academic performance and extracurricular involvement, educate them about university and tertiary college programs, and put them in touch with funding sources that will help them pay for their higher education. As part of the role, you will also interview candidates, arrange campus visits, lead information sessions, offer ACT/SAT preparation advice, and represent the Academy at university fairs and other recruitment events both domestically and abroad.

Important Duties
⢠Helping students select, apply to, and complete tertiary education programs that align with their career goals.
⢠Educating students on the advantages of various programs and institutions that are available worldwide and fit their needs and abilities
⢠Supporting students as they apply to universities around the world. This will entail reviewing the supporting materials for the student before submission.
⢠Educating pupils on financial options
⢠Preparing students for the ACT and SAT in anticipation of potential admission to US universities, starting with those in the Y10 grade level and up (present MYP 5)
⢠Uphold MFA’s stellar reputation as an IELTS testing facility and fulfill site supervisor duties.
⢠Aiding students in choosing courses and extracurricular activities in coordination with MYP and DP coordinators.
⢠Assisting students in choosing courses and extracurricular activities that will prepare them for their desired career pathways after graduation, in coordination with MYP and DP coordinators.
⢠Keeping up with changes in tertiary level programs, admissions requirements for universities and colleges, and financial assistance trends.
⢠Establishing connections with university partners and proactively advertising the IB programs
⢠Planning career days and university fairs at the school and representing the institution at other college fairs and other marketing events
⢠Conducting interviews, examining application papers, and supporting students’ decision-making
⢠Educating parents on the process of transition
⢠As the direct line manager, assist Associate Academic Counselors in executing the college counseling and careers education program by providing guidance and advice, and conduct routine.
⢠As the direct manager, you should advise the internship and placement coordinator on the internship placements for the scholars.
⢠Keeping up with changes in educational policy, trends, and resources.
⢠Building and maintaining connections with stakeholders who can help with outreach, such as regulatory agencies and organizations that grant scholarships.
⢠Annual reporting on university destinations to all stakeholders
⢠The Child Safeguarding Lead is the Head of University Admissions.
Qualifications
⢠At least a Bachelor’s degree in education or a related discipline is required.
⢠IB (International Baccalaureate) Curriculum knowledge is a must.
⢠At least five years of experience in holistic counseling, collegiate counseling, and career counseling
⢠Knowledge of the university admissions process, with an emphasis on international organizations that provide scholarships
⢠Knowledge of college and university programs, admissions standards and procedures, and resources for scholarships and financial help
⢠Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; excellent active listening
⢠Effective organizational and interpersonal abilities
⢠The capacity for multitasking and organization
⢠Readiness to mentor others and sustain them when they make crucial decisions
⢠Having budgeting experience is a plus
Depending on experience, negotiable monthly gross salary
Senior Management level is the position’s level.
