New ECDE Teacher Salary Scales – 2023. Teachers and other caregivers working in the early childhood development and education (ECDE) sector can now review the entire details of their compensation, according to a clarification from the compensation & Remuneration Commission, SRC.
The Salary Review Commission contends that these teachers shouldn’t receive a salary of no less than Ksh7,000 per month.

The Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) wants to draw attention to incorrect media coverage of the Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) Pay Structure.
These studies indicate that ECDE teachers make less money than the minimum wage set by the federal government. Because the reports were based on basic income rather than gross wage, they were inaccurate.
The SRC claims that for Nairobi’s lowest cadre of ECDE teachers in December 2021,
Tt recommended a gross remuneration of between Ksh 14,961 and Ksh 15,842 and between Ksh 13,211 and Ksh 14,092 for those in Cluster 4. (other locations).

The economics and long-term viability of county governments’ pay bills were considered in this advise.
On January 13, 2023, SRC clarified the pay and perks of ECDE teachers in response to a request from county governments.
As part of the third pay review cycle, the SRC is now reviewing the salaries of all public employees.
The results are anticipated in June 2023.
The Salary and Remuneration Commission is established by Article 230 of Chapter 12 of the Kenyan Constitution of 2010. (SRC). The State SRC is in charge of the following two main duties:
(a) Establishing and reviewing the salaries and benefits of all State officers
(b) Providing advice to national and county governments on the salaries and benefits of other public officers.
